Bouillon de kulture : Freedom of Choice (Devo) (series 33 1/3, book no. 104) / Evie Nagy (press copy) (53)

I have always been a huge Devo fan, as far back as I can remember.

I was just amazed by their debut album Q:A, proposing a raw, punk and unique sound, and the rest of their discography is just as trendsetting.

As far as Freedom of Choice is concerned, it's not only about their biggest single hit Whip it, oh, no sir!

The 12 songs contained on Devo's third studio album is high energy synthpop oriented. And they all sound fantastic!

There is no doubt that this title, which represents Devo's only platinum album, was going to be part of the amazing 33 /3 book collection. And what a coincidence that this book release also celebrates the 35th birthday of FOC.

Evie Nagy does an amazing job at dissecting and commenting on the twelve tracks of this seminal record. There is also background about Devo's debut as a band, their highs, their lows, their past and recent projects, cool pictures about the album release events, etc.

Wow! I loved this book and highly recommend it to all fellow Spudboys.
